What’s up with this new visa thing? Do I need one?
You may have heard about some new travel requirements for Europe starting in 2024… And althought that’s true, Ireland is not on the list of affected countries. If you are coming from the US and returning straight back home, you shouldn’t have to worry about a visa.
Many people may be interested in extending their trip to see other parts of Europe and in that case you will want to take a few extra steps to make sure you don’t run into any issues. The good news is that the visa application seems like it will be incredibly simple and not too expensive (~$10). We recommend going to this site and signing up for emails so that you can stay in the know as the process rolls out (it’s what we’ll be doing too!!) https://etias.com/etias-application
When should we arrive in Dublin?
We welcome guests to arrive as early as they please! There’s a 5 hour time change from the eastern time zone so give yourself time to adjust if you think you’ll need it! We will arrange some gatherings on the days leading up to the wedding for those in town. Departures depend on your schedule! John and Lisa will likely arrive Wednesday, June 26th, and remain in Dublin a few days after the wedding to continue to celebrate with friends and family in town.
Are children welcome?
We know some of you have small children and babies (& we love them SO much!!) – we would love to hang out with them outside of our ceremony and reception, but the wedding will be fairly adults oriented. If they are coming along to Dublin, please feel free to reach out to us so we can figure out how to best help; we know traveling with children is no small feat!
Where should we visit while in Ireland?

Tips for Leaving Dublin?
Dublin International has a “USA Preclearance” terminal that allows you to skip customs upon arrival back in the states. There is limited food, charging, and space options in Dublin’s Preclearance terminal. Therefore, if you have time to kill and were thinking you would try to get to your gate early…don’t. Lisa and I played it well and got through about 30 minutes before we started boarding.
If you have Global Entry, you can walk to the end of the preclearance line. If not, give it another 20-30 minutes of waiting in line.
Are there any good irish wedding toasts?
May you have all the happiness and luck that life can hold—
And at the end of all your rainbows
may you find a pot of gold.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings,
Slow to make enemies,
And quick to make friends.
May God be with you and bless you.
May you see your children’s children.
May you know nothing but happiness
from this day forward.
